WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Since we are an arts and culture magazine, we are looking for writers and journalists to work on pieces that highlight and enrich the growing Irish scene. We are particularly interested in: 

  • Interviews or features with emerging artists with a connection to Ireland

  • Reviews of 

    • Albums, single, or concerts

    • Art exhibitions 

    • Plays 

    • Books, poetry and short story compilations

  • Personal essays

    • Related to life in Ireland or as an expatriate 

    • Related to one’s own artistic or creative journey

  • Critical essays related to art or culture

  • Creative multimedia pieces

HOW TO SUBMIT

STRAY accepts article pitches on a rolling basis. We also accept already written work, which can be sent directly to our team. For more information, please refer to the writer’s guide.

STAFF POSITIONS

Staff Writers

  • Committed to writing one original or assigned article relating to art, culture, or life in Ireland once a month.

  • Work closely with copy editors and editor-in-chief throughout the writing process.

  • We're looking for curious writers who are passionate about giving a platform to subculture and fringe activities in Ireland.

Copy Editor

  • Committed to editing two to four articles a month.

  • Work closely with staff writers, editor-in-chief, and web editor throughout the writing process.

  • We're looking for detail-oriented writers who can complete tasks effectively and adhere to deadlines.

Both positions require you to…

  • Regularly check email, Slack, and Notion.

  • Attend optional monthly meetings to discuss headline ideas and developments within the magazine.
